Project Health Checks

Sometimes organizations are unsure about a project and ask ‘Are we doing the right project?’ or ‘Are we doing the project right?’. This is where you can draw on Kennedy Ryder’s vast experience to answer those questions. Faced with this challenge, Kennedy Ryder will allocate you a suitable project management consultant who will undertake a quick analysis of the project through interviewing the project manager and other major stakeholders and analysing the project documentation. The Kennedy Ryder Project Health Check Consultant will then give a brief report on the findings with some recommendations.

One recommendation may be to analyze the project’s health further and come up with a fuller report. Where there are indications, the Project Heath Check Consultant may recommend an analysis of other projects to uncover generic project problems that need to be addressed. The findings and recommendations will be in a full report.

Project Recovery

Sometimes project become very messy. In these circumstances the Kennedy Ryder Project Recovery Consultant will quickly analyze the situation and recommend the way forward to senior management. The client then has the option to have the Kennedy Ryder Project Recovery Consultant or one of our Interim Project and Programme Managers manage the project back to health or work with the project as an advisor or mentor. We cannot guarantee to recover every project but we will do our best.

Project Methodology Development

Some organizations prefer to have their own methodology that reflects their own culture, terminology and methods of working. Indeed this is rather sensible because it reduces the volume of change when introducing a project methodology and not everyone wants a straight PRINCE2 or PMI approach. Some organizations also wish to have more than a project management methodology: they want a management and technical methodology that may even cover the presale to post sale processes and decisions. This is quite common in software development organizations. The Kennedy Ryder Project Management Methodology Consultant will work with you to develop the Project Methodology that you require. To this the Project Management Consultant will assist you in the selection of suitable tools and techniques to support the methodology. Wherever possible this will be a very much hands-off approach by Kennedy Ryder so that the methodology is owned by the client and evolves as the client learns and understand more.

Project Management Office (PMO) Creation

An excellent tried and tested method of introducing a new approach to projects across an organization is to form a Project Management Office (PMO). Another situation where a PMO can be very useful is when an organization is short of expert resources. In these situations the PMO can then become a centre of excellence to be called upon when its expertise is required and a centre that ensure that the projects follow the client’s standard methods of working. Kennedy Ryder will design and staff a project management office for you and assist you in selecting your own team to staff the PMO. Kennedy Ryder will then work with your team to coach, mentor, train and develop them so that they are capable of staffing and managing the PMO as soon as possible.
