Module 4 – Monitoring and controlling against your plans
Based upon PRINCE2, PMI APM & CAPM PMBoK, and APM APMP Body of Knowledge best practice.
The forth module in the course is directed to the skills and knowledge essential to develop a realistic and acceptable project plan. This module draws from PRINCE2 Product Based Planning (PBP); and the PMI PMP & CAPM PMBoK and APM APMP techniques of estimating methods, Critical Path Analysis, project scheduling (including Gantt Charts and Resource Histograms).
Delegates will spend more than 50% of the day using the planning techniques on a ‘live’ project. The trainer is on hand to offer help, advice and guidance on an individual basis.
Topics covered in the Monitoring and controlling against your plans Module are:-
- Introduction to monitoring and controlling projects using PRINCE2, PMP, CAPM, APMP best practice approaches
- Delegation of work using Work Packages
- Supported by case study exercises
- The ‘Dashboard’ and reporting – there are too many things happening and too much data to deal with on a project. This session addresses the essential items for bringing about project success.
- Supported by case study exercises
- Changes and problems. Projects never run smoothly and changes are not unusual. How can we mange them effectively with minimum impact to the project.
- Supported by case study exercises
- Project Closure – how and what to do when a project meets in natural or unnatural end.
- Supported by a case study exercise.
All of the topics covered can be adapted and adjusted to reflect the methods of working within your organization.
